Memorandum of Understanding Pro Bono Partnership Program Form LINK
__________________________ and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (“NAACP”) Michigan State Conference hereby enter into this Memorandum of Understanding in an effort to jointly promote the mission of the NAACP and to expand the NAACP’s legal redress capacity to address civil rights complaints. ___________________ agrees to assist the Michigan State Conference in evaluating civil rights complaints and in pursuing such claims on behalf of the NAACP when approved in accordance with NAACP Bylaws and procedures. In pursuing such efforts ________________________ agrees to work closely with the Michigan State Conference and the NAACP National Office of General Counsel as an official pro bono partner.
As part of this Memorandum of Understanding __________________ will further support the legal redress activities of the Michigan State Conference in accordance with the mission of the NAACP which is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
The parties further agree that in the event the parties mutually agree to pursue litigation, the parties will enter into a written retainer agreement, detailing the parameters of the representation. The parties agree that any decision to pursue litigation must receive prior written approval from the NAACP National Office of General Counsel.
